Staff of Seaweld’s Takoradi Office had an exceptional way to celebrate their Valentines’ Day with people from the company’s Homeless Centre in Takoradi.
People from the centre, who are mostly mentally challenged, had the opportunity to be out of their confines to be on the company’s premises on the 14th of February. They were treated with hot meals and good music to make their Valentine’s Day a memorable one.
Explaining the concept behind the event, Miss Ruby Stoph, the lead organizer and Administrative officer in our Takoradi Office said “it was the company’s way of showing love to these people, most especially on a Love day”. She indicated that although it was the maiden edition, staff participation was encouraging and that they will ensure to see more of such.
Seaweld Engineering’s effective Management of Social Impacts of our operations has seen us manage the Homeless Centre since the commencement of the company’s operations in Takoradi. The Homeless Centre has also seen a facelift with the provision of healthcare, feeding and accommodation support for its survival with the continuously increasing number of inmates at the centre.
In showing appreciation for the “awesome gesture” as it was termed, the inmates sang and prayed for the company in their own words and understanding for the good the company has always been showing them.
The high points of fun in the event was when staff of Seaweld Engineering took turns to dance and sing with the mentally challenged people in dancing and singing competitions.
