DESMI recently launched its Ghana initiative by appointing 2 partner companies to promote DESMI products & services in Ghana.
Seaweld Engineering Ltd – Will be taking the lead role and partnering with DESMI to offer equipment, training, after-sales & spares for the DESMI range of Industry, Marine & Offshore, Oil Spill, and Fueling products. FlatC Marine & Offshore – Operates a fleet of offshore supply vessels, and has agreed to collaborate with DESMI to offer oil spill response services to the expanding oil & gas sector in Ghana.
Going forward, the two Ghanaian companies will promote and sell DESMI’s world-renowned equipment and services, such as gear & marine pumping solutions, skimmers, booms, and fuelling solutions. The intention is for customers & prospects to have available locally the same level of products & service enjoyed by our customers in the West. In this regard, the CEO of Seaweld, Alfred Adagbedu, has committed to bringing on board a dedicated technical team to ensure the country’s objectives are met.
For some time, it has been a great concern whether or not Ghana would be able to handle a potential oil pollution accident, but this new agreement brings optimism and new confidence to the situation. General Manager of DESMI Africa, Leslie Andrews, indicated that the Ghanaian economic environment was one of the key motivators for entering this strong partnership.
“We saw the opportunities that Ghana presents and the performance of Seaweld and FlatC as unique partners in this change we want to bring to the offshore business in the country,” he said.
The COO of FlatC Marine Offshore, Capt. Michael F. Norteye explained one of the critical advantages of the deal:
“A lot of times when these spillages occur because Ghana does not have experts in dealing with them, people have to be invited from Europe, which takes days before they reach here. “So I find this deal an interesting one that will resolve all issues involving oil spillage on our seas,” he said.
